CHED Recognizes HCDC as Model for Education Reform in Region XI In the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) regional conversation entitled “Finding Our Ways Forward: A Conversation on the EDCOM II Challenge,” held on March 3, 2026, at HCDC’s Sedes Sapientiae Auditorium, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XI Director Maricar R. Casquejo recognized Holy Cross of Davao College (#HCDC) as a model for education reform in Region XI, highlighting HCDC as a vital venue for advancing regional dialogue. “I think it is still premature for me to say that the application for Holy Cross of Davao College has already passed the first stage, or perhaps the results. But we already have one model in our region: Holy Cross of Davao College,” Dr. Casquejo emphasized. She noted that HCDC is implementing targeted capacity-building activities, promoting local-level collaboration for internationalization, and applying the “big brother and sister” approach. HCDC President, Br. Noelvic H. Deloria, S.C., added that education reforms must also address prevailing perceptions among stakeholders. “The problem is a mindset. We need to bridge the gap between what the government offers and what the parents value,” Br. Deloria said. He also highlighted HCDC’s active promotion of collaborative dialogue and a shift in perspective. Organized by the Davao Association of Catholic Schools, Inc., in partnership with the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines–Region XI, and hosted by HCDC, EDCOM II—a multi-sector conversation showcasing academic institutions’ leadership in strengthening learning outcomes, policy coordination, and collaborative reform—gathered education leaders, policymakers from government agencies and private sectors, and academic institutions to discuss reforms needed to strengthen the Philippine education system. #HCDCTrailblazerUpdates #TrailblazeHCDC ![]()
